The Arts & Crafts movement was highly influential in the second half of the nineteenth century. Its bold, angular style was a radical departure from Victorian themes of the time. The Mission style incorporates designs reminiscent of the rustic furniture of the Spanish American Southwest with its exposed joinery and rectilinear lines.
